Mélanie is French and German, and lived almost all her life in Portugal. During the last decade, Mélanie has been devoting herself to the study of archeology in Alentejo, and published in Portugal her Master's thesis in 2008, about a roman and visigothic necropolis in Estremoz. Her PhD in History and Archaeology, defended in 2012 (Faculty of Arts, University of Lisbon and University of Paris IV - Sorbonne), also deals with the Alentejo region, about the study of the early Christianization of this territory.
In this way, Melanie decided to combine the pleasure of research with the passion to go through the magnificent landscapes of Alentejo and to present this region to all visitors interested in a very personal way, not only in Portuguese, but also in French, English and German.
Diane is french, but fell in love so much with Portugal that she wouldn't leave anymore. Even if she did first obtain a PhD in literature, she also is a diplomed horse riding instructor, and this is the real reason she "fell" in tourism, in 2012. After first working in France and in the U.S., she arrived with the exact same passion in south Alentejo (Vidigueira, Vila de Frades, Beja) before meeting Melanie and joining VAGAR's team at the beginning of 2018.
Sharing the same philosophy, even if she has a real interest to make you discover the large choice of outdoor activities, and gastronomical products Alentejo has to offer, she will lead you everywhere you want in english, french or portuguese.
